Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our coastal walks on the Curonian Spit
Yes, absolutely. Our routes are specifically designed for a comfortable pace with manageable distances and built-in rest stops. We offer both easier pine grove walks (mostly flat, shaded terrain) and moderate dune crest paths with gentle elevation changes, so you can choose what suits you best.
Our pine grove walks typically cover 4–6 km and take around 2–3 hours including rest breaks. The dune crest pathways are a bit longer at 6–8 km but still keep to a relaxed pace with scenic viewpoints where you can sit and enjoy the lagoon or sea views.
Comfortable walking shoes with good grip are all you really need. The trails are well-maintained and stable, not rocky or technical. We recommend bringing water, a hat, and sun protection for the dune crest routes since there's less shade up there, but nothing special or expensive is required.
Late spring through early autumn (May to September) offers the most comfortable walking weather. Summer is warmest but also busier on the trails. Autumn is beautiful for seeing seasonal changes in the pine groves and fewer crowds. Winter walks are possible but require warmer clothing and preparation for wet conditions.
That's a big part of what we do. Our route guides cover dune ecology, pine forest wildlife, coastal geology, and the heritage of fishing villages along the spit. You'll understand what you're seeing—why the dunes form the way they do, which birds and plants are unique to this place, and stories of the people who've lived here for generations.
